Price Comparisons - Telephone
calls available from the Algarve

One thing that telephone service providers don't want you to do easily is to compare
the cost of telephone calls.
To make this as difficult as possible they have various tiers of charges including
call setup charges, time related charges and all sorts of special optional tariffs.
For us to give you a reasonable and quick comparison we have based our calculations
on a 3 minute call and we have used the March 2006 tariffs as published by the various
service providers. Where different regional tariffs exist we have used the Local
call charges in the calculations rather than the regional charges to show the lowest
figures for the competition - and we are still extremely competitive.
(Note Portugal Telecom reduced their Fixed to Mobile
charges significantly in April so we have now updated our comparison table accordingly
- and we are still ahead!) |
With calls to mobiles the figures can get even more complicated because the operators
have different rates for different mobile operators - we have taken the cheapest
where details are available but please be aware that there can be a big variation
between calls to the different operators.
Before committing
to a low cost service we suggest that you try out the quality of calls to mobiles. |
|
Also beware of the charging details - some providers will charge per second, some
per minute and some will charge a minimum which can also apply in some instances
when a call is not completed. Operators who charge by the minute can work out much
more costly to use than those who bill per second unless you can time you calls
exactly to the minute. |

All our prices are shown in Euros based on the exchange rate on 12th May 2006 and published tariffs
between 17th March and 8th April 2006 and include VAT/IVA as appropriate. |
There are also differences in the service offering and this makes a significant
difference to the charges - see the appropriate provider links for details. Some
are more convenient than others and may be more suitable for your particular requirements.
Specifically Skype requires your PC to be turned on in order to use the service. |
